Description: The fact sheets in this series provide an "at-a-glance" overview of particular aspects of education in Canada and summarize key data trends in selected tables published as part of the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP).

The PCEIP mission is to publish a set of statistical measures on education systems in Canada for policy makers, practitioners and the general public to monitor the performance of education systems across jurisdictions and over time. PCEIP is a joint venture of Statistics Canada and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC).

Description: This technical reference guide (updated to include the 2024 datasets) is intended for users of the Education and Labour Market Longitudinal Platform (ELMLP). The data for the products associated with this issue are derived from integrating Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) administrative data with other administrative data on earnings. Statistics Canada has derived a series of annual indicators on the labour market outcomes of public postsecondary graduates including median employment income by educational qualification, field of study, age group and gender for Canada, the provinces and the territories combined.

This is the first research paper by Statistics Canada using high school administrative data from the British Columbia (BC) Ministry of Education integrated with the Education and Labour Market Longitudinal Platform. It builds upon BC’s Student Transitions Project to answer the questions: Are high school graduates with certain types of special education needs less likely to attend postsecondary education than graduates without special education needs? Are graduates with certain types of special education needs more likely to delay entering postsecondary education than graduates without special education needs? If so, does the gap in enrolment close over time? Finally, this paper will examine whether graduates with certain types of special education needs are more or less likely to enter specific educational qualifications than graduates without special education needs within six years of graduating from high school.
