In response to this need, Statistics Canada initiated the development of a Real-time Local Business Conditions Index (RT-LBCI). The index brings together data from a few different sources, including Google's Places API (containing data on temporary and permanent businesses closures), TomTom Real-time traffic API (road traffic data), as well as information from Statistics Canada data holdings (monthly retail and wholesale, Business Register, etc.).     Monthly files are available back to 2006 and can be directly downloaded. For reference periods prior to 2006, files are available by request through Statistics Canada's Electronic File Transfer (EFT) service and date back to 1976.

    To measure this dimension, Statistics Canada developed an Index of Remoteness of communities. For each populated community (census subdivision), the index is determined by its distance to all the population centres defined by Statistics Canada in a given travel radius, as well as their population size.

    Description: This public use microdata file (PUMF) provides researchers access to data on the distribution of SARS-CoV-2 lineages detected in the Canadian provinces between May and September 2022. Samples were collected as part of the Canadian COVID-19 Antibody and Health Survey (CCAHS), Cycle 2. The PUMF file consists of a subset of participants of the CCAHS who submitted a positive PCR saliva sample over the course of the collection of the survey. The PUMF contains select demographic information including sex at birth, age group, province and the week of collection. The file also contains SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequences and its associated data.

    Description: This public use microdata file (PUMF) contains non-aggregated data for a wide variety of variables collected from the Survey on Before and After School Care in Canada (SBASCC).

    SBASCC addresses child care in Canada for children who are attending school (i.e., ages 4 to 12). The survey will ask about the different types of learning and child care arrangements used by families, difficulties some families may face when looking for care, as well as reasons for not using child care.

    Please note that children under 6 are not included on this PUMF. These data are available through the masterfile or the Survey on Early Learning and Child Care Arrangements (SELCCA) PUMF.

    Description: The Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) Cycle 1 oral health public use microdata file (PUMF) is now available. The PUMF consists of 307 variables from the oral health examination completed as part the CHMS, a subset of variables present or recoded from the master file. Data was collected from 2007 to 2009 from approximately 6,000 people in 15 communities randomly selected across Canada and represents 97% of the Canadian population aged 6 to 79 years old. The Oral Health module of the CHMS is a result of a collaborative partnership between three federal departments: Statistics Canada, Health Canada and the Department of National Defence.

    This dashboard presents selected health indicators for the Canadian population living in the ten provinces related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes estimates of the population aged 12 and older, by region and province, age group and gender. The indicators of health included show how Canadians rate their current mental health compared to before the pandemic - worse, the same, or better. It also shows what percentage of Canadians reported taking various precautions to protect against COVID-19, what percentage indicated having received a test for COVID, as well as the rate of those somewhat or very likely to get a vaccine. The data for this dashboard are based on the Canadian Community Health Survey, a annual population health survey that was adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to produce more timely estimates with new content related to the evolving situation. Estimates in this dashboard are presented beginning from September 2020 and will be updated with each completed collection period available from the survey.
