The 2006 Census and 2006 Aboriginal People Survey (APS), which provide an extensive set of data about Aboriginal people, are the data sources. The Aboriginal Peoples Survey (APS) is a national survey on the social and economic conditions of Aboriginal Peoples (First Nations people living off reserve, Métis and Inuit) aged 15 years and over. The 2017 APS represents the fifth cycle of the survey and focuses on issues of transferable skills, practical training, use of information technology, Aboriginal language attainment, and participation in the Canadian economy. The 2017 APS public use microdata file (PUMF) package has been designed to enable users to access and manipulate survey microdata at the national level. The package includes a microdata file; SAS, SPSS and Stata syntax; and a users' guide. The users' guide provides general information on the survey as well as guidelines for releasing estimates calculated using the PUMF.
