The context in which sexual assault and unwanted sexualized behaviours occurred—where they happened, who was responsible, and who was around—provides insight into the cultural underpinnings of unwanted sexualized behaviours on campus. This Juristat article examines the number of initiated and completed cases, the inventory and age of open cases, completion rates, case processing times, court workload, and backlog. Special emphasis is placed on time-based indicators in relation to the presumptive ceiling established in the R. v. Jordan decision. Data are from the Integrated Criminal Court Survey Workload Time Series Database and examine the characteristics of cases in adult criminal court in Canada, including a series of new indicators. The database reorganizes the familiar Integrated Criminal Court Survey completed case construct, and instead organises charges by information to allow for the analysis of open cases in addition to completed cases.

The context in which these experiences occurred-for example, where they happened and who was responsible-combined with information on demographics, occupation and workplace characteristics provides insight into Canadians' experiences of misconduct while at work. This analysis also provides information on workers' attitudes about behaviours related to misconduct and their perception of their employers' response.

This Juristat article examines family law cases active in the Canadian civil courts in 2019/2020 and profiles various case types where spouses or couples have experienced a family breakdown, which require the assistance of a court to resolve. The case types profiled in this report include divorce applications, custody/access cases, support only cases, child protection applications and family cases seeking a civil protection order. Additional analysis is provided on the contentious nature of the case, the sex of the applicant and respondent, whether the parties were represented or self-represented, types of court activity that took place throughout the fiscal year and the average number of days it took to reach a first disposition. Each profile establishes a baseline of family law court data which will enable future analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on family law cases in the Canadian civil courts. Further, this report may also support further analysis of the effect of the March 1, 2021 Divorce Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. 3 (2nd Supp.) amendments.
