Description: The need for alternative data sources is of growing importance for both supplementing Statistics Canada's data holdings and for nowcasting economic activity. In response to this need, Statistics Canada initiated the development of a Real-time Local Business Conditions Index (RT-LBCI). The index brings together data from a few different sources, including Google's Places API (containing data on temporary and permanent businesses closures), TomTom Real-time traffic API (road traffic data), as well as information from Statistics Canada data holdings (monthly retail and wholesale, Business Register, etc.). The project aims to compute a near real-time index of economic activity in Canadian major cities.

Description: The Employment Insurance Coverage Survey provides a meaningful picture of who does or does not have access to EI benefits among the jobless and those in a situation of underemployment. The survey also covers access to maternity and parental benefits.

Description: This public use microdata file (PUMF) provides researchers access to data on the distribution of SARS-CoV-2 lineages detected in the Canadian provinces between May and September 2022. Samples were collected as part of the Canadian COVID-19 Antibody and Health Survey (CCAHS), Cycle 2. The PUMF file consists of a subset of participants of the CCAHS who submitted a positive PCR saliva sample over the course of the collection of the survey. The PUMF contains select demographic information including sex at birth, age group, province and the week of collection. The file also contains SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequences and its associated data.

Description: This public use microdata file (PUMF) contains non-aggregated data for a wide variety of variables collected from the Survey on Before and After School Care in Canada (SBASCC).

SBASCC addresses child care in Canada for children who are attending school (i.e., ages 4 to 12). The survey will ask about the different types of learning and child care arrangements used by families, difficulties some families may face when looking for care, as well as reasons for not using child care.

Please note that children under 6 are not included on this PUMF. These data are available through the masterfile or the Survey on Early Learning and Child Care Arrangements (SELCCA) PUMF.

Description: The Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) Cycle 1 oral health public use microdata file (PUMF) is now available. The PUMF consists of 307 variables from the oral health examination completed as part the CHMS, a subset of variables present or recoded from the master file. Data was collected from 2007 to 2009 from approximately 6,000 people in 15 communities randomly selected across Canada and represents 97% of the Canadian population aged 6 to 79 years old. The Oral Health module of the CHMS is a result of a collaborative partnership between three federal departments: Statistics Canada, Health Canada and the Department of National Defence.

The production of this file includes many safeguards to prevent the identification of any one person or household.

This public use microdata file (PUMF) contains data for a wide variety of variables collected from the Canadian COVID-19 Antibody and Health Survey (CCAHS). The CCAHS collected information on the presence of chronic conditions, self-reported COVID-19 status, testing history, risk for infection, health behaviours, vaccination status and intentions to get vaccinated. COVID-19 antibody seroprevalence laboratory data, and select demographic information are also available. Survey data were collected between November 2020 and April 2021, with the vast majority of collection occurring in January and February 2021.

Statistics Canada is gathering information from families who use child care as well as those who do not. The survey, which addresses child care in Canada for children younger than 6 years old, asks about the different types of early learning and child care arrangements that families use, difficulties some families may face when looking for care, as well as reasons for not using child care. The survey will also cover the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on child care.

Description: This public use microdata file includes information on the impacts of COVID-19 on Canadian health care workers, with particular focus on job type and setting, personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection prevention and control (IPC) practices and protocols, and the impacts of the pandemic on personal health and work life.

The Public-Use Microdata File (PUMF) for the Survey of Household Spending (SHS) provides information on household expenditures as well as selected information on dwelling characteristics and household equipment. The production of this file includes many safeguards to prevent the identification of any one person or household.

PUMFs were produced on an annual basis for SHS 1997 to 2009, before a redesigned survey was introduced with the 2010 reference year. The SHS 2017 PUMF is the first SHS PUMF based on data collected after the 2010 survey redesign.

Due to changes to data collection, processing and estimation methods introduced with the 2010 redesign, users are advised not to compare data from SHS 1997 to 2009 with data from any subsequent years, unless otherwise noted.

The information collected will be used to better understand the various methods people use to resolve problems - not just formal systems such as courts and tribunals, but also informal channels such as self-help strategies.

These are barriers encountered in different aspects of daily living including those found in public spaces; communicating in different situations; using the Internet and barriers related to behaviours, misconceptions or assumptions by others. The data can be organized by province, gender and other characteristics such as age group. This dashboard is based on the 2022 Canadian Survey on Disability.

At the international level, users can see the importance of foreign multinationals on the Canadian economy as well as the similar role of Canadian multinationals in foreign economies, by country. At the national level, information on activities of multinational enterprises in Canada are included, by type of multinationals, province and industry. Activities include a number of selected variables such as number of enterprises, number of jobs, assets, revenues, merchandise trade and value added.

The interactive map presents characteristics of Canadian importers and exporters at the provincial and CMA level. Characteristics include number of exporters and importers, as well as the value of goods traded by industry and number of trading partners.

Description: This interactive tool details the characteristics of Indigenous postsecondary students in Canada entering selected programs leading to a postsecondary credential. This tool includes information on the number of new students by Indigenous identity, educational qualification, field of study, age group, and gender.

Description: This interactive dashboard allows users to examine financial and employment variables for enterprises aggregated at the industry and industry aggregation level, as well as at the provincial, territorial and regional level.

Financial statistics are based on the Financial and Taxation Statistics for Enterprises product (survey 2510) and are calculated to the province and territory level using employment allocation factors based on profiled data from the Business Register and administrative data from the Canada Revenue Agency T4 Supplemental file.

The employment data has been aggregated at the industry and industry aggregation level, using the annual provincial program of Canadian Productivity Accounts (survey 5103) which produces annual data on jobs by province and territory.

This visualization provides insights into the relationship between Canadian economic activity and the environment by including estimates of Canadian GHG emissions and energy use.

GDP by industry at basic prices is a measure of the economic production of Canada’s provinces and territories. The values in the visualization tool are presented as percent change in chained (2017) dollars and by contributions to the percentage change, by selected industries.
