As farms evolve into increasingly automated and technologically advanced operations, Canadian farm operators are placing a greater emphasis on educational attainment.

This article examines the past 20 years of farm operators' educational attainment, as well as the relationship between educational attainment and the characteristics of farm operators and their agricultural operations.

This article examines the major field of study reported by farm operators, including the top major field of study reported for each province. This article also discusses how educational attainment influences opportunities for off-farm work and the gross farm receipts of farm operators. In addition, it takes a look at how farm operators are leveraging technology for their farms, as well as the breakdown of farm types, in relation to farm operators' highest level of educational attainment.

It has been well documented that the children of immigrants in Canada outperform their peers with Canadian-born parents in educational attainment, and that the two groups have similar labour market outcomes. However, large variations by ethnicity or source country exist among the children of immigrants. This study examines the extent to which admission class (e.g., skilled workers, business immigrants, live-in caregivers, the family class and refugees) also matters in the socioeconomic outcomes of childhood immigrants who arrived in Canada before the age of 18.

This article explores the relationship between various social determinants of health and selected health outcomes for First Nations people aged 15 and older living off-reserve. Specifically, the following social determinants are explored: health behaviours (smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity), physical environments (housing, mobility, employment, education, income, food security), access to health resources, cultural continuity (participation in traditional activities, Aboriginal language, social support), and residential school attendance. Description:

Starting in 1994, the Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics (SLID) will follow individuals and families for at least six years, tracking their labour market experiences, changes in income and family circumstances. An initial proposal for the content of SLID, entitled Content of the Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics : Discussion Paper, was distributed in February 1992.

That paper served as a background document for consultation wit h interested users. The content underwent significant change during this process. Based upon the revised content, a large-scale test of SLID will be conducted in February and May 1993.
