    Description: This fact sheet examines changes in employment, unemployment and rates of youth not in employment, education or training (NEET) among persons aged 15 to 29, by condensed academic year (October to March) over the past years (2018/2019 to 2023/2024). To contextualize the changing NEET rate, this paper will first describe trends in youth labour market conditions. Results are subsequently presented by age group, sex at birth, racialized group, and immigrant status, highlighting the impacts of changing economic conditions on NEET rates across various demographic groups.

Since 2021, Statistics Canada has released the annual IJE estimates using data from the Canadian Employer-Employee Dynamics Database (CEEDD) via the Common Output Data Repository (CODR). This article describes an updated methodology to estimate interjurisdictional employees and compare the old and new methodology using the IJE estimates from 2002 to 2020.

    Description: While a large body of research has identified several correlates of employee turnover, little is currently known regarding the degree to which employees who work in community care facilities for the elderly leave the nursing and residential care facilities subsector or the health care and social assistance sector in a given year. This study fills this information gap using data from the 2016 Census of Population integrated with Statistics Canada’s Longitudinal Worker File. Sample size limitations restricted the focus of the study to women, who represent the vast majority of employees who work in seniors’ homes.
