Description: This dashboard features tables and a map designed for users to explore the number and the size of communities by different definitions of rural, including that of rural and small town (census subdivisions outside census metropolitan areas or census agglomerations) and that of rural areas (non-population centres) according to the Census of Population Program. This web-based application undergoes updates every five years with the census.

Description: Using data from the 2021 Census, this study investigates the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on racialized workers, focusing on the change in median employment income from 2019 to 2020, and the extent to which payments from the Canada Emergency Response Benefit offset income losses in 2020 among workers affected by the pandemic. Differences between racialized and non-racialized workers are investigated, along with differences among groups of racialized workers, as well as the intersectionality of race and gender.

Description: This methodological document accompanies the infographic entitled “Students in private postsecondary education, 2020: Results of a feasibility study”. It describes the methodology and data limitations for the integration of the T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate with the Census 2021 for the infographic. It also explores the coherence of the results across different data sources, namely the Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) and T1 Family File (T1FF), to validate the results. The data integration was possible due to the Education and Labour Market Longitudinal Platform (ELMLP).

Description: This study aims to profile workers in the homelessness support sector using data from the 2021 and 2016 censuses. The homelessness support sector is defined by combining specific occupations and industry of employment to identify individuals who work in jobs that provide services to families and individuals who face homelessness. The study profiles these individuals by geography, age, sex, family status, educational attainment, indigenous identity and visible minority status. The study also addresses their earnings and poverty status.

Description: Using a longitudinal dataset created through the linkage of the 2006 Indigenous Peoples Survey (IPS; formerly called the Aboriginal Peoples Survey) and the 2016 long-form Census, this study examines childhood factors that are associated with the completion of a high school or greater education by young adulthood, among off-reserve First Nations, Métis and Inuit children. Bivariate results examining the likelihood of having completed high school or greater education by different childhood characteristics including socioeconomic and demographic ones are presented for First Nations children living off reserve, and Métis and Inuit children separately. These characteristics were chosen based on previous literature. Using a pooled sample, it examines the association between childhood factors and the outcome using multivariate analysis to account for confounding factors.

Cartographic files depict the geographical areas using only the major land mass of Canada and its coastal islands. The files provide a framework for mapping and spatial analysis using commercially available geographic information systems or other mapping software.
