Description: Work arrangements changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, as organizations switched to working from home on a large scale and used digital technologies to adapt to physical distancing mandates. It is largely unknown how changes to work arrangements since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Canada. This article focuses on whether needs and unmet needs for WPAs among employed Canadians with disabilities have changed since 2017, with the widespread deployment of working from home and digital technologies.

Description: An extensive literature shows wide variations in life expectancy (LE) across various subnational geographic areas. However, little is known about these variations across very small levels of geographic disaggregation in Canada. This study expands the boundaries for such analyses by focusing on metropolitan areas, allowing an examination of small area variations in LE that cannot be ascribed to provincial or federal-level health, social, and other policies and programs, as more than one metropolitan area per province can be studied.

Description: Income-related food insecurity is an important determinant of health. Persons with disabilities are at a higher risk of experiencing household food insecurity (HFI) than those without disabilities. The main objectives of this study were to estimate the prevalence of HFI for persons with different types, numbers, and severity of disabilities, and to examine sociodemographic correlates of HFI among this group.

Health Reports, published by the Health Analysis Division of Statistics Canada, is a peer-reviewed journal of population health and health services research. It is designed for a broad audience that includes health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and the general public. A sample of those persons who answered 'Yes' to the 2001 Census disability filter questions were included in the PALS survey population. Approximately 35, 000 adults (aged 15 and over) and 8,000 children (aged 0 to 14) living in private or collective households in the 10 provinces were selected to participate in the survey. Persons living in institutions, on Indian reserves, and in the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut were excluded from the survey. The data were collected after the 2001 Census, in the fall of 2001.

Cycle 16 of the 2002 General Social Survey (GSS) was on 'Aging and Social Support.' Data were collected over an 11-month period from February to December 2002 with a sample of approximately 25,000 respondents representing the non-institutionalized population in the 10 provinces.

These tables contain data on the prevalence of care received by seniors because of long-term health problems, the prevalence of informal care given to seniors because of long-term health problems and consequences of providing care to seniors. All tables are available by sex and age groups, and for Canada and the provinces.

Approximately 8,000 children (aged 0 to 14) living in households in the 10 provinces were selected to participate in the children's component of the survey. Persons living in institutions, on Indian reserves and in the Yukon, Northwest Territories or Nunavut were excluded. The data were collected after the 2001 Census, between September 2001 and January 2002. Note that information on children with disabilities was gathered through interviews with their parents or guardians.

These tables contain PALS data on children aged 5 to 14 who have disabilities and the impact of their disability on the daily activities and employment situation of their families.Specific themes covered are:-help with everyday activities received by children with disabilities;-parents access to help; formal and informal-impacts of the child's disability on the family's employment situation;-children's access to specialized aids and services; and household income.

Tables are presented by severity of disability of children with disabilities, for Canada and provinces.

The data from that content provide information on the following variables: self esteem, mastery, alcohol dependence, sedentary activities, changes made to improve health, decision latitude at work, home care utilization, social support, influenza immunization, bicycle-helmet use, condom use, tobacco alternatives, smoking cessation aids, physical check-up, eye examination, dental visits, breast examinations and breast self-examinations, blood pressure check, suicidal thoughts and attempts, distress, moods, and spirituality.

Description: At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an overrepresentation of males in COVID-19 deaths worldwide, with Canada reporting more female COVID-19 deaths. This study examines the overrepresentation of female COVID-19 deaths in Canada, with an immigration lens. This study also evaluates whether there is a sex difference in COVID-19 deaths by immigrant status in Canada and, if so, for which age groups and in which provinces or census metropolitan areas (CMAs).

Description: On average, 45% of Canadian adults meet the recommended 150 minutes per week of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Using six combined cycles of the Canadian Health Measures Survey (2007 to 2019), this study examines how the percentage of Canadian males and females aged 18 to 79 years meeting the physical activity recommendation differs across socio-demographic, family arrangement and health factors. The purpose of this paper is to determine how sex, age and family arrangement intersect with known risk factors for physical inactivity to identify groups within the Canadian population most at risk of not meeting the physical activity recommendation.
