    Description: These files describe the relationships between the geographic areas of the most recent Census of Population and the same geographic areas from previous census.

    Three correspondence files are available: the "Dissemination Area correspondence file", the "Dissemination Area and Land Area correspondence file", and the "Dissemination Block correspondence file".

    Each file contains a unique identifier for the most recent census geographic area and the corresponding unique identifier for the previous census area. An indicator specifying the degree of correspondence between the geographic areas, which facilitates the comparison of data across census years, is also provided.

    This paper presents low-income statistics from the 2016 Census for the population residing in Indigenous communities (on reserve), in the North and in Inuit Nunangat. The selected measure for the paper is the low-income measure, after-tax computed from the household incomes, adjusted for household size, of the whole population of Canada, including those residing on reserve and in the territories. Results are presented for Canada overall as well as for the population residing on reserve, in the territories and in Inuit Nunangat, which includes Inuvialuit Region of the Northwest Territories, Nunavik in Quebec and Nunatsiavut in Labrador. Methodological considerations in the application of the Low-income measure to these geographies are also discussed.

    Using a new database created by integrating information from the Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) with 2016 Census data, this article examines the extent to which 2012 and 2013 graduates with a bachelor's degree who did not go back to school full time after graduating held a job requiring a high school diploma at most when they entered the labour market in 2016. The overqualification rate is examined according to several characteristics, such as sex, field of study, province, graduation year, belonging to a group designated as a visible minority and immigration status.

    Description: Educators who are part of Indigenous children’s own communities can play an important role in providing them with early learning experiences that reflect their cultural heritage and traditions. This study examines the sociodemographic and employment characteristics of early learning and child care (ELCC) workers who are First Nations people, Métis or Inuit. Using 2016 long-form Census data, two occupational groups were studied – early childhood educators and assistants (ECEA) and child care providers (CCP). Comparisons were also made with non-Indigenous ELCC workers in the same occupational groups.
