Using pooled data from the Survey of Financial Security (2016, 2019 and 2023), families are classified across income and wealth quartiles to assess economic well-being.

Description: This study examines disparities in apprenticeship certification and employment income among childhood immigrants (individuals who arrive in Canada before age 18) and Canadian-born apprentices by sex. Specifically, two research questions are addressed: (1) whether the likelihood of obtaining certification varies between childhood immigrant and Canadian-born apprentices by sex, before and after accounting for sociodemographic, program and employment characteristics; and (2) whether annual earnings (log) among certified journeypersons vary by childhood immigrant status and sex before, at, and after certification, and whether these differences persist after accounting for other factors.

Description: This study examined disparities in early learning and child care (ELCC) use, types of care and barriers to access among vulnerable Canadian families using data from the 2023 Canadian Survey on Early Learning and Child Care. The analysis focused on children aged 1 to 5 years living in the provinces and explored differences among low-income, single-parent, racialized, Indigenous, rural and same-gender-parent families. Descriptive analyses and logistic regression models were used to assess child care participation, experiences finding care and associated consequences, while adjusting for sociodemographic factors.

The CanCHECs combine census respondents to the long-form questionnaire with administrative health data and annual postal codes for mailing addresses.
