This study explores the prevalence of household air conditioning in Canada using two newly linked surveys: the 2017 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) and the 2017 Households and the Environment Survey (HES). It is the first to quantify air conditioning prevalence in Canada at the person-level.

It focuses on data that has been collected by Statistics Canada and Infrastructure Canada and draws lessons from the Australian census to improve the data landscape in Canada. This environmental scan identifies gaps in the current data collection strategies and proposes solutions to start filling them.
