Based on survey data and complemented by two administrative data sources, these estimates will address an important data need and provide a clearer picture of the potential impact that immigration policies have had on international postsecondary education in Canada, particularly for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years.

Description: The Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP) draws from a wide variety of data sources to provide information on the school-age population, elementary, secondary and postsecondary education, transitions, and labour market outcomes.

PCEIP products include data tables, fact sheets, an interactive dashboard, a data explorer, and a handbook. They present indicators for all of Canada, the provinces, the territories, and include year over year comparisons.

The PCEIP is an ongoing initiative of the Canadian Education Statistics Council, a partnership between Statistics Canada and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada that provides a set of statistical measures on education systems in Canada.

Data for this dashboard is related to the following three surveys: Tuition and Living Accommodation Costs (TLAC), Elementary-Secondary Education Survey (ESES), and the Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS). Each survey will be released separately at a later date.

For the postsecondary education, this interactive tool features characteristics of students enrolled in, or graduating from postsecondary programs offered in public postsecondary institutions in Canada (such as gender and status of student in Canada). It also provides an overview of program characteristics based on the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED 2011) and on the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP Canada 2021) STEM/BHASE groupings. It also details new enrolments (by gender, age group, and student status) for the most common credential programs offered within universities and colleges.

Description: Using the Longitudinal Immigration Database (IMDB) integrated with the Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) and the T1 Family File (T1FF), this study explores the Canadian postsecondary educational attainment and employment income of immigrants from the “economic immigrant” programs who were granted permanent residency based on their ability to contribute to the Canadian economy. The analysis compares the skilled immigrants who returned to postsecondary education after admission to Canada to those who did not return to postsecondary education and explores their potential difficulty to transfer their educational qualifications onto the Canadian labour market.
