Canadian and international research has shown that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in health behaviours, including physical activity. The purpose of this study is to compare physical activity before and during the COVID-19 pandemic by comparing the September through December 2020 data from the 2020 The Canadian Community Health Survey to October through December data from the 2018 CCHS. This study examines this comparison through a health equity lens to illustrate the differential impact across the Canadian population in the domain of physical activity.

The Canadian Social Environment Typology (CanSET) is a geographic classification tool to compare neighbourhoods across Canadian Census Metropolitan Areas and Census Agglomerations. The CanSET was developed by the Centre for Population Health Data (CPHD) at Statistics Canada. It provides three levels of neighbourhood classifications based on combinations of 30 socioeconomic, demographic and ethnocultural variables from the Census of population 2016. Each social environment cluster is a group of similar dissemination areas and represents a unique neighbourhood type. The CanSET data comes with definitions of each neighbourhood type so that users can compare health and social outcomes by neighbourhood characteristics. The CanSet classification includes the data, user guide and methodology guide.

Visuals highlight data for the population aged 15 and older in Canada's 10 provinces who reported a high level of satisfaction with their local environment, by age, gender, geographic region, and the outdoor activities in which they chose to participate over the past year. A high level of satisfaction with local environment is defined as a response of 8, 9 or 10 to the question "On a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 means you feel 'Not at all satisfied' and 10 means you are 'Completely satisfied,' how satisfied are you with the quality of your local environment such as access to green space, and air or water quality?" Satisfaction with local environment is an indicator in the Quality of Life Framework for Canada.

This dashboard presents selected health indicators for the Canadian population living in the ten provinces related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes estimates of the population aged 12 and older, by region and province, age group and gender. The indicators of health included show how Canadians rate their current mental health compared to before the pandemic - worse, the same, or better. It also shows what percentage of Canadians reported taking various precautions to protect against COVID-19, what percentage indicated having received a test for COVID, as well as the rate of those somewhat or very likely to get a vaccine. The data for this dashboard are based on the Canadian Community Health Survey, a annual population health survey that was adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to produce more timely estimates with new content related to the evolving situation. Estimates in this dashboard are presented beginning from September 2020 and will be updated with each completed collection period available from the survey.

Using data from the COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Survey (CVCS), this study’s objective was to examine sociodemographic disparities in COVID-19 vaccination uptake and intent by identifying the social and economic determinants associated with vaccination uptake among seniors aged 60 years and older (i.e., those eligible for vaccination at the time of the survey) and the determinants of vaccination intent in the entire adult population.
