Financial statistics are based on the Financial and Taxation Statistics for Enterprises product (survey 2510) and are calculated to the province and territory level using employment allocation factors based on profiled data from the Business Register and administrative data from the Canada Revenue Agency T4 Supplemental file.
The employment data has been aggregated at the industry and industry aggregation level, using the annual provincial program of Canadian Productivity Accounts (survey 5103) which produces annual data on jobs by province and territory.

This table shows 2001 Census data for the following levels of geography: census metropolitan areas, tracted census agglomerations and census tracts.
This table is part of the topic "Canada's Workforce: Paid Work," which presents 2001 Census data on the paid work of the Canadian workforce, including detailed industry and occupation data, class of worker and work activity during the reference year. This topic also presents data on presence of children. Labour market information is available for small areas and small population groups.
These data are used by governments, businesses, labour unions and others to analyse labour market conditions throughout the country. For small areas, the census is useful in allowing comparisons of labour market structure and performance between areas. Similarly, for small population groups, such as visible minorities, immigrants and language groups, the census allows the assessment of the occupational structure and labour market status and integration of these groups compared to the population as a whole. The census is also the only source of data covering the entire labour market, including Indian reserves, overseas households, and all provinces and territories. Given the size of the census sample, this level of industry and occupation detail is reliable at very detailed levels of geography.
It is possible to subscribe to all the day-of-release bundles. For more information refer to Catalogue No. 97F0023XCB.

Release date: 2010-05-28 - Articles and reports: 81-004-X201000111151Description:
The situation of women in Canadian society and in the labour market has undergone a massive shift over the past few decades. Women now account for the majority of university graduates; the gender gap in labour market participation in 2009 narrowed to a small fraction of its size in 1976; and increasingly, women are found in non-traditional occupations and fields of study. That being said, there still are many occupations that reflect historical gender roles. That is because fundamental societal shifts like these typically take place over an extended period of time, reflecting changes in behaviours of successive cohorts of young people.
This article takes stock of changes that have taken place over time in the occupations held by women in the labour market and in the fields of study they are choosing at the postsecondary level. It demonstrates where changes have occurred and suggests where change may happen in future as a result of shifts in the composition of postsecondary education graduates.

Release date: 2009-05-15 - 55. Skilled trades employment ArchivedArticles and reports: 75-001-X200811013217Geography: CanadaDescription:
Education and training continue to be important in the labour market. To many, this implies a university degree. But society also needs tradesworkers to perform many vital tasks -- build houses, run the electrical lines, fix plumbing and maintain cars to name just a few. Many businesses are reporting difficulties finding skilled tradespersons and governments are responding with policies to stimulate employment in the trades. Employment trends in selected trades over the past 20 years are examined, along with the socio-economic traits of the workers and the characteristics of their jobs.
Release date: 2008-12-18 - 56. A profile of the Canadian Forces ArchivedArticles and reports: 75-001-X200810713214Geography: CanadaDescription:
Canada's military makes up a small but significant segment of Canadian society and is an important part of the country's national image, both at home and abroad. After declining through the 1990s, the forces have grown since 2001, reaching 88,000 in 2006. This article profiles the personnel of the Canadian Forces as a special occupational group distinct from the rest of the Canadian labour force. It also compares the military's prevalence of rates of work stress and other work-related mental health issues with those of the civilian working population and investigates whether any specific groups experience a higher prevalence.
