Description: Multimorbidity is the co-occurrence of two or more chronic diseases, and is a significant challenge for health care systems worldwide. There are limited data, particularly in a Canadian context, on multimorbidity prevalence and incidence. This study analyzed trends in the prevalence and incidence of multimorbidity and complex multimorbidity (five or more conditions) by sex, age, and neighbourhood income quintile in British Columbia. This study also identified the most prevalent disease combinations.

Description: The prevalence of Canadian adults with obesity has been steadily increasing over the past four decades. Nine percent of Canadian adults had obesity in 1981, 27.2% had obesity in 2018 and the most recent estimates from 2022 indicate that 30% of Canadian adults have obesity. The purpose of this study is to describe the obesity change pattern among Canadian adults aged 28 to 79 years and to examine associations between obesity history and health outcomes.

Description: Managing breast cancer involves a range of health care settings and has considerable implications on health care resources. While studies have looked at breast cancer costs in Canada by subtype and stage, there is a gap in understanding breast cancer costs related to phase of care and disease stage. This study assessed health care system costs and resource utilization for adult women with breast cancer in Ontario, Canada. The goal was to update costs by stage, age, and phase of care from a health care system perspective.

Description: This public use microdata file (PUMF) contains data for a wide variety of variables collected from the Canadian COVID-19 Antibody and Health Survey (CCAHS). The CCAHS collected information on the presence of chronic conditions, self-reported COVID-19 status, testing history, risk for infection, health behaviours and vaccination status. COVID-19 antibody seroprevalence laboratory data, and select demographic information are also available. Survey data were collected between April 2022 and August 2022, with the vast majority of collection occurring in May, June and July 2022.

An increasing number of consumer laser products are available to Canadians, many being purchased from online retailers. Of particular concern are high-powered, handheld laser devices. This study was conducted to assess the impact of this influx of laser products on the number of laser-associated injuries in Canada. Data are from the rapid response component of the 2014 Canadian Community Health Survey which collected data from 19,765 Canadians on the prevalence of laser product exposure and usage, the type of laser product used, and the incidence of eye or skin injuries.
