- Public use microdata: 13-25-0001Description: The Public Use Microdata File (PUMF) for the Canadian Tobacco and Nicotine Survey (CTNS) provides information to fill important data gaps related to vaping, cannabis, and tobacco usage. The data will inform policy and provide a current snapshot of use across Canada.
Until 2017, Statistics Canada conducted the Canadian Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Survey (CTADS), which collected data on tobacco as well as alcohol and drug use in Canada. In 2019, the Canadian Alcohol and Drugs Survey (CADS) was conducted to collect data on alcohol and drug use independently from the Canadian Tobacco and Nicotine Survey (CTNS) which was conducted to primarily collect data on tobacco and nicotine.
This product includes many safeguards to prevent the identification of any one person or household. The CTNS PUMF is for users who prefer to do their own analysis by focusing on specific sub-groups in the population or by cross-classifying variables.

This product provides annual statistics on induced abortions performed in Canada on Canadian and non-Canadian residents. Where applicable, data on induced abortions performed on Canadian women in selected American states are also provided.
Counts, rates per 1,000 women and ratios per 100 live births of induced abortions at the national, provincial and territorial levels are provided. Certain tables indicate the number of abortions performed in a hospital or in a clinic setting. Other tables indicate the counts, rates and ratios per 100 live births of induced abortions across age groups.
Some tables provide data back to 1970, while others provide data back to 1974. These tables are updated annually to include the most current data year available. The data source for these tables is the Therapeutic Abortions Survey.

The Joint Canada/United States Survey of Health is a collaborative project undertaken by Statistics Canada and the National Center for Health Statistics of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It is the first survey that asks a common set of questions to approximately 3,500 Canadians and 5,200 U.S. residents about their health status and access to health care services. The analytical report in this publication compares Canadians and U.S. residents on a broad range of health dimensions including self-perceived health, chronic conditions, functional status, life-style factors such as smoking and obesity, health care utilization and satisfaction with health care services. A public use microdata file (PUMF) has been prepared from the survey, and is available for free download in this publication. The PUMF comes with complete documentation, including a data dictionary, a user guide and a document explaining how the derived variables were created. "Bootstrap" weights for variance calculation are also provided for free download.

- Articles and reports: 82-003-X202300400001Description: To date, population estimates of hypertension prevalence among children and adolescents in Canada have been based on clinical guidelines in the National High Blood Pressure Education Program’s 2004 Fourth Report on the Diagnosis, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescents (NHBPEP 2004). In 2017, the American Academy of Pediatrics published updated guidelines in Clinical Practice Guideline for Screening and Management of High Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescents (AAP 2017), followed by Hypertension Canada in 2020 with its publication of Comprehensive Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis, Risk Assessment, and Treatment of Hypertension in Adults and Children (HC 2020). This is the first study in Canada to compare the national estimates of the prevalence of child and adolescent hypertension based on AAP 2017 with estimates of prevalence based on NHBPEP 2004 and HC 2020. The main objectives of this analysis were to apply AAP 2017 and HC 2020 to all six cycles of Canadian Health Measures Survey data available to date and examine the effect on population estimates of hypertension prevalence by sex and age group among children and adolescents aged 6 to 17. This study also examines the impact of applying AAP 2017 across time and selected characteristics, describes those who are reclassified into a higher BP category under AAP 2017, and examines differences in hypertension prevalence resulting from applying HC 2020 versus AAP 2017.Release date: 2023-04-19
