This analysis is based on administrative data from the Canadian Housing Statistics Program for eight Canadian provinces and three Canadian territories. Description: The Rural Canada Housing Profiles (RCHP) 2018 to 2021 provides tables on housing in rural Canada. The tables were developed using data from several Statistics Canada programs: 2021 Census of Population, Canadian Housing Statistics Program (2018 to 2021), Building Permits (2018 to 2021) and Investment in Building Construction (2018 to 2021). Information such as structure type (single or multiple residential property), year of construction, size of the building, and construction intentions (building permits issued by municipalities, number of units / value of the building) were used to provide a broader picture of housing stocks, flows and investments in rural communities. The final output is five data tables (residential building permits; investment in residential building construction; residential property characteristics; occupied private dwelling characteristics; and private household characteristics). Data are organized geographically at the following levels (where applicable): Canada, provinces or territories, census subdivisions (CSD). Aggregates are provided for rural and urban parts of Canada, provinces, and territories, while indication is provided as to whether a CSD is considered rural or urban according to the definition used - CSDs outside census metropolitan areas (CMAs) and census agglomerations (CAs) are defined as 'rural', while CSDs within a CMA/CA are defined as 'urban'.

The indicators (household food security and insecurity [5], population living in a dwelling owned by one member of the household; population in core housing need; population living in suitable housing; and in affordable housing) can be disaggregated by visible minority and selected sociodemographic characteristics. Data are available for Canada, geographical regions of Canada, province or territory and census metropolitan area. This data visualization tool is part of a broader conceptual framework on social inclusion and covers a total of 11 themes. Each theme has a similar interactive visualization tool.

At the same time, the climate impacts our homes: when severe weather strikes and causes damage to our homes, we have no choice but to rebuild, and even if we escape unscathed, we still have to decide how much to change our lifestyles to adapt to a changing climate.

Description: The stock and consumption of fixed capital program is an important program that produces estimates of the flow of fixed capital: investment and depreciation, and the stock of fixed capital. Estimates are produced for non-residential and residential assets. The program releases estimates for Canada and the provinces and territories, in constant, current and chained Fisher dollars.

This interactive dashboard provides access to current and historical data for the Residential Property Price Index (RPPI), and its sub-components (new and resale houses and condominium apartments) for the census metropolitan areas (CMA) of Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria and a 6 CMA composite, in a dynamic and customizable format. It allows users to view the index series, quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year percent changes, as well as the largest increases and decreases for the current period. Additionally, users can also view percent changes by weight and geography. This web-based application is updated quarterly.

The ODA is based on data from authoritative sources that include among them provincial, territorial and municipal governments. The ODA is released as open data under the Open Government License - Canada and provided as a collection of compressed CSV files.

The Canadian Housing Statistics Program (CHSP) produces a comprehensive repository of statistics that covers numerous aspects of the housing sector, including property and owner characteristics. As the amount of data produced increases, the CHSP has introduced thematic maps to help people, business owners, academics, and management at all levels, to understand key information derived from the data by representing it visually at the geographical level. Thematic maps can be used quickly to communicate a message, to simplify the presentation of large amounts of data, to see data patterns and relationships and to monitor changes in variables over time.

These thematic maps will provide a quick overview of CHSP repository data.

The Aboriginal Peoples Survey (APS) is a national survey on the social and economic conditions of Aboriginal Peoples (First Nations people living off reserve, Métis and Inuit) aged 6 years and over. The 2012 APS represents the fourth cycle of the survey and focuses on issues of education, employment and health. The 2012 APS public use microdata file (PUMF) package has been designed to enable users to access and manipulate survey microdata at the national level. The package includes a microdata file; SAS, SPSS and Stata syntax; and a users’ guide. The users’ guide provides general information on the survey as well as guidelines for releasing estimates calculated using the PUMF.

The Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants to Canada (LSIC), conducted jointly by Statistics Canada and Citizenship and Immigration Canada under the Policy Research Initiative, is a comprehensive survey designed to study the process by which new immigrants adapt to Canadian society. About 12,000 immigrants aged 15 and older who arrived in Canada from abroad between October 2000 and September 2001 were interviewed. By late 2005, when all three waves of interviews will have been completed, the survey will provide a better understanding of how the settlement process unfolds for new immigrants.

The results of this survey will provide valuable information on how immigrants are meeting various challenges associated with integration and what resources are most helpful to their settlement in Canada. The main topics being investigated include housing, education, foreign credentials recognition, employment, income, the development and use of social networks, language skills, health, values and attitudes, and satisfaction with the settlement experience.
