Rural Canada Housing Profiles, 2022

The Rural Canada Housing Profiles (RCHP) database provides comprehensive information on key variables related to housing in rural and small town (RST) areas of Canada. Comprising five tables, the RCHP database addresses themes such as residential building permits; investment in residential building construction; residential property characteristics; occupied private dwelling characteristics; and private household characteristics. This issue is an update for the 2022 reference year and also integrates data from 2018 to 2021.

The tables draw from various Statistics Canada programs including building permits, investment in building construction, Canadian Housing Statistics Program, and Census of Population, 2021.

Data are accessible at different geographic levels including: Canada, province or territory, census subdivision (CSD), and RST area or urban area. The RCHP database defines RST as areas outside of census metropolitan areas and census agglomerations (CMA/CAs); areas inside CMA/CAs are considered urban.

Important note:

Tables 46-10-0078-01 and 46-10-0079-01 did not receive updates as they are based on the Census of Population, 2021.
