Using data from the 2014 General Social Survey (GSS) on Victimization and the 2013 GSS on Social Identity, this report explores issues of confidence and trust in government and institutions. Overall levels of confidence, measures of police performance, levels of generalized trust and trust in specific institutions are examined. The impact of geography, socio-demographic and neighbourhood characteristics on perceptions are also discussed.
