Accordingly, with the release of the 2020 data from the Canadian Income Survey (CIS), Statistics Canada has revised estimates for 2012 to 2019 using totals from population estimates based on the 2016 Census. This paper presents a comparison between revised and unrevised estimates for key income series, and describes other modifications made to CIS variables.

Whether the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated levels of food insecurity in Canada during the pandemic, particularly among vulnerable groups, is unclear. This study estimated the proportion of Canadians reporting experience of household food insecurity six-to-nine months into the COVID-19 pandemic, and drew comparisons to pre-pandemic levels.
