Estimates of interjurisdictional employment in Canada by province and territory, 2002 to 2022

Updated estimates of the total counts and T4 earnings of interjurisdictional employees in Canada are available through the Common Output Data Repository (tables 14-10-0482-01, 14-10-0483-01, 14-10-0484-01, and 14-10-0485-01) for each jurisdiction for the period from 2002 to 2022. These estimates are disaggregated by the North American Industry Classification System, by age and by sex.
Interjurisdictional employees are identified as individuals who maintain their permanent residence in one province or territory but have paid employment in another.
Interjurisdictional employment may represent a significant source of income for home provinces or territories of interjurisdictional employees and a significant source of labour for the provinces or territories in which they work.
Note to readers
Estimates are available from 2002 to 2022. This release replaces the interjurisdictional employment estimates previously released on February 24, 2025 (Tables 14-10-0473-01, 14-10-0474-01, 14-10-0475-01, and 14-10-0476-01).
