Labour Force Survey, October 2026

Employment was little changed in October (-4,700; 0.0%) and the employment rate fell 0.1 percentage points to 60.5%. The unemployment rate rose 0.2 percentage points to 6.7%.

Crime and justice

Mortality trends among adults with a history of incarceration, 2015/2016 to 2023/2024

In Canada, people who have experienced incarceration are at increased risk of premature death compared with the general population. Among people aged 20 to 49 years who had experienced incarceration in either 2022 or 2023 across five provincial correctional services (Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia), 1,790 died in 2023.

Retail Commodity Survey, August 2026

Retail sales reached $76.3 billion in August, an increase of 4.5% compared with the same month one year earlier. Higher sales were reported in 15 of the 18 commodity classes.
