Real gross domestic product was unchanged in the first quarter of 2026, after declining 0.2% in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Gross domestic product by industry, March 2026
Real gross domestic product edged down 0.1% in March, partially offsetting February's expansion.
Environmental and Clean Technology Products Economic Account: Human Resource Module, 2024
Environmental and clean technology (ECT) activity generated 363,094 employee jobs in the Canadian economy in 2024, up for the fourth consecutive year (+22.4% from 2020). The four-year job growth rate of the ECT sector exceeded that of the overall economy (+19.4% from 2020 to 2024). The ECT sector represented 1.7% of all jobs in Canada in 2024, a share that has remained constant compared with 2023.

Screened passenger traffic at Canadian airports, April 2026
In April, 4.5 million passengers passed through pre-board security screening at checkpoints operated at Canada's eight largest airports, up 1.7% from April 2025.
Travel and tourism
National Travel Survey and Visitor Travel Survey, fourth quarter 2025
During the fourth quarter of 2025, Canadian residents took 83.4 million trips within Canada and abroad, down 6.8% from the same quarter in 2024. From October to December 2025, visitors from the United States and overseas countries made 6.1 million trips to Canada, a 0.7% decline compared with the fourth quarter of 2024.
