New motor vehicle sales, June 2025

There were 177,313 new motor vehicles sold in Canada in June, increasing 6.2% from June 2024. In dollar terms, sales increased 3.1% during the same period. In June 2025, there were more new motor vehicles sold in every province compared with the same period in 2024.
Sales of new passenger cars increased 19.5% in June 2025, marking the first gain in this subsector since November 2024. In June 2025, sales of new trucks (+4.3%) were also higher than one year earlier.
In June, 14,090 new zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) were sold, a decrease of 35.2% from one year earlier. New ZEVs comprised 7.9% of total new motor vehicles sold.

Note to readers
The term "zero-emission vehicle" (ZEV) refers to any motor vehicle that has the potential to produce no tailpipe emissions. The ZEV category includes battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
