Estimates of the number of census families for Canada, the provinces, and the territories, as of July 1, 2022, are now available. These estimates are broken down by family structure (couple or lone-parent). Revised estimates as of July 1 for the years 2020 and 2021 are also available.
Note to readers
The estimates released today are based on the 2016 Census of Population adjusted for census net undercoverage, T1 Family File and postcensal demographic estimates. There estimates are not to be confused with the 2021 Census counts of families, which was released on July 13, 2022.
