The Full-time Teaching Staff - University and College Academic Staff System (FT-UCASS) provides Canadians with a detailed portrait of full-time academic staff in Canadian universities, including gender, year of birth, principal subject taught, academic rank, salary and administrative stipends, administrative responsibilities, previous employment, and province or country of degrees earned.
Today, Statistics Canada is releasing final data on academic teaching staff from the FT-UCASS for the 2019/2020 academic year. They include information for 111 public degree-granting institutions. In August 2020, Statistics Canada released 2019/2020 information for 90 of these institutions that had reported by that date.
This release is accompanied by an infographic, "Gender parity and the gender salary gap: Progress of full-time university academics over the last 40 years." It displays information on gender parity among full-time academic staff across the ranks of full professor, associate professor and assistant professor, including salary ranges, as well as the salary gap by rank and subject.
