The number of aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations totalled 5.7 million in 2018, up 3.2% compared with 2017.
Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International, Ontario (475,775 movements), Vancouver International, British Columbia (339,441), and Calgary International, Alberta (244,029), were the busiest airports in 2018, representing 18.4% of the total movements at major airports.
Both itinerant movements (flights from one airport to another) and local movements (flights that remain in the vicinity of the airport) increased in 2018. Itinerant movements were up 1.5% to 4.1 million, while local movements rose 7.6% to 1.7 million. This was the largest increase in local movements since 2007.

For the seventh consecutive year, other international traffic rose, with 68 airports reporting 187,372 other international itinerant movements.
