Crowdsourced cannabis prices, for the period from January 25, 2018 to January 31, 2018, are being released today and can be downloaded from the crowdsourcing application StatsCannabis. Canadians submitted 5,882 price quotes during this period. The data are representative of the population of individuals who reported information to Statistics Canada, but should not be interpreted as results for the general population. Some outliers were removed prior to posting—in total about 200 outliers were removed.

The average price reported during this period was $6.85 per gram for all cannabis products.

More than three-quarters (76%) of individuals reported that they consumed cannabis for non-medical purposes.

The majority of individuals (59%) reported that they were daily users of cannabis.

Statistics Canada would like to thank Canadians for their continued support in helping the agency measure the evolving social and economic impacts of cannabis legalization. Please continue to submit information to the StatsCannabis crowdsourcing application. Thanks to your contribution, Statistics Canada will be able to provide a rich open dataset that all Canadians will be able to use, and which will help to better understand the transition towards legalization.

The product Cannabis Stats Hub (Catalogue number13-610-X) is available.
