Wool disposition and farm value, 2024

Canadian wool producers saw a rebound in wool prices in 2024, despite a further decline in wool purchases. The average price paid to Canadian wool producers increased 37.1% in 2024 to $0.48 per kilogram. The volume of raw wool purchased directly from Canadian producers declined by one-fifth (-20.4%) year over year to 555 900 kilograms in 2024.

The total farm value increased 7.1% to $288,000.

Data on the quantity, price and farm value of purchased raw wool and raw wool used on farms are now available for 2024, for Canada and by province.
