Health indicators from the Survey on Health Care Access and Experiences — Primary and Specialist Care, 2024

Today, Statistics Canada is releasing new indicator tables on health and quality of life based on data collected during the 2024 Survey on Health Care Access and Experiences – Primary and Specialist Care.

The first table contains indicators on wait time for an initial consultation with a medical specialist in the past 12 months. The second table contains health and quality of life indicators such as access to primary health care, care coordination, barriers to care, prescription medications and out-of-pocket expenses.

  Note to readers

The Survey on Health Care Access and Experiences – Primary and Specialist Care is a cross-sectional survey that collected responses from randomly selected individuals aged 18 years and older living in private dwellings in the 10 provinces.
