Canada's monthly international trade in services deficit narrowed from $1.1 billion in May to $1.0 billion in June. Overall, exports of services were up 0.4% to $14.7 billion due to higher travel services (+1.6%) and commercial services (+0.4%). Imports edged down 0.2% to $15.7 billion on lower imports of transportation services (-1.6%).

Total exports of goods decreased 2.2% from May to $60.7 billion in June, and total imports of goods were down 0.5% to $64.4 billion, resulting in a deficit of $3.7 billion in June. Combined, the trade balance for goods and services amounted to a deficit of $4.7 billion in June compared with a deficit of $3.8 billion in May.
The services trade deficit in May, originally reported at $1.1 billion in the previous release, was essentially unchanged in the context of the current reference month's release, as exports (+$66 million) and imports (+$35 million) were revised up.
