Stocks of frozen poultry meat in cold storage increased 14.6% from August 1, 2017, to 101 840 tonnes on August 1, 2018.
Placements of hatchery chicks on farms increased 4.2% compared with July 2017, to 70.7 million birds in July. Over the same period, placements of turkey poults increased 4.9% to 1.9 million birds.
Continuing its steady growth on a year-over-year basis, egg production rose 4.0% from June 2017 to 67.1 million dozen in June.
