This map gives a geographic overview of domestic exports and imports of goods within Canada. Trade between two regions is given by a set of two lines, one for imports and one for exports. Each trade flow is displayed with two colors to denote the origin and destination of that flow. An export from a region is a flow that originates in that region (say, Toronto), and is coloured blue; its colour slowly changes to red as it gets closer to its destination (the importing region, say, Montreal). The reverse flow from Montreal to Toronto displays the opposite pattern, starting blue in Montreal and turning to red by the time it gets to Toronto. The thickness of the line represents the value of trade.

Notes: Data are for 2012. Flows exclude commodities that are primarily moved by pipeline (conventional and synthetic crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids and related products, crude and diluted bitumen) and, to preserve the confidentiality of the input-output tables, coal products. No data are available for the territories. Suppressed data for GERs are not shown (see CANSIM Table 386-0004 for more information).
