  1. On July 1, 2016, Canada’s population was estimated at 36,286,425.
  2. Between April 1 and July 1, 2016, Canada’s population increased by 139,645 (+0.4%).
  3. Canada’s population growth in the second quarter of 2016 was largely due to international migration.
  4. Since the beginning of 2016, Canada has received 172,307 immigrants.
  5. For a third consecutive quarter, Alberta posted a net loss in interprovincial migration, while British Columbia and Ontario posted net interprovincial migration gains.
