Survey of 1995 Graduates

Description: This survey was conducted in 1997. It's primary objective was to obtain information on the labour market experiences of graduates entering the labour market, focussing on employment, occupations and the relationship between jobs and education.

Who/what was surveyed: Graduates from Canadian postsecondary education institutions who completed the requirements for degrees, diplomas or certificates during the calendar year 1995.

How the data were collected: Computer-assisted telephone interviews

Geographic detail: Canada, provinces and territories

Demographic detail: age, sex, marital status, language spoken at home, mother tongue, dependent children, ethnic origin, place of birth

Information collected:

• Program confirmation
• Activities before completing post secondary studies
• Labour force activities last week (employed/unemployed)
• Details of other jobs for graduates currently working
• Details of other jobs for graduates not currently working
• Details of first job for graduates with more than 3 jobs since graduation
• Activities since graduation
• Education after graduation (complete programs)
• Education and training after graduation (incomplete programs and training)
• Higher education
• Program evaluation
• Student loans/finances
• Skills analysis
• School-work transition
• Volunteer activities
• Demographic/general questions
