Annual Rail Statistics
This dashboard displays the main financial and operational data from mainline and regional railway companies, for the last five years. It allows users to compare operating statistics (train-kilometres, train-hours, diesel consumption, total number of units of the types of rail cars, and track lengths), financial statistics (operating revenues and expenses), employment statistics (employees and compensation) and transported commodities (within Canada) over time.

How to use
How to use this interactive visual
Use this interactive tool to view data from the Annual Rail Transportation release, for the last five years.
The dashboard contains four data tabs and corresponding buttons: Revenues and expenses, Employees and compensation, Operating statistics and Transported commodities. There is also one button to reset all the filters.
Directly select a tab or a button to display the information on that data, such as data on operating accounts (regional and mainline companies), employee counts and salaries, operating statistics, and transported commodities. Filters can be applied to show data per year, company, operating account, province, origin, destination, and commodities.
Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips
Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips are available by entering the visual and pressing Ctrl + Enter.
While in the visual, pressing Shift + ? will open the keyboard shortcuts.
When focus is on a visual, the data table can be displayed by pressing Alt + Shift + F11.
When in a chart and navigating betweem data points, display a tooltip by pressing CTRL + H.
