Additional information

This interactive data visualization tool pools estimates from several agricultural surveys focusing on crop production. It presents data on areas, production and sales of various agricultural products. Data is broken down by crop type including field crops, fruits, maple products, ornamental products, potatoes and vegetables.

Users can use the different variables to compare or analyze the evolution over time of area, production or sale of agricultural products.

Data are available at the national and provincial level and for a period that could go as far back as 1908, depending on the data source.

Confidential data is represented by missing data in the visualization tool.

How to use

How to use this application

The visualization tool has six tabs for exploring crop production data: field crops, fruits, maple products, ornamental products, potatoes and vegetables.

Users can first select a crop type by clicking the buttons at the top of the tool. They can then enter a reference period in the text boxes provided for this purpose. Finally, users can select a province, one or more agricultural commodities as well as an estimate from the drop-down menus. These selections can be modified at any time in order to change the visual elements present in the interactive tool.

General notes

Hovering over a graphical element will generate a tooltip that contains more information about the underlying data.

Users can access the underlying data behind a visual element by right-clicking on the element and selecting “Show as a table”.
