Highlights


  • Canadian gross sales of gasoline were 38 billion litres in 1999, a 2% increase over 1998.

  • While Ontario and Québec were the top 2 provinces in terms of total gross gasoline sales, the Yukon, Alberta and Saskatchewan had significantly higher levels of per capita gross sales of gasoline.

  • Sales of gasoline, diesel fuels and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for which road taxes were paid (Net Sales) reached 51 billion litres, up 5% over 1998.

  • Gasoline accounted for 71% of the Net Sales of road use fuels in 1999.
