Aircraft take-offs and landings at Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations decreased 5.5% in October 2014 from the same month a year earlier. The 91 airports included in October 2014 reported 460,016 movements compared to 486,958 movements at 93 airports the previous year.

Both itinerant movements (flights from one airport to another) and local movements (flights that remain in the vicinity of the airport) contributed to the decline. Itinerant movements (329,355) fell by 13,732 (-4.0%) while local movements (130,661) dropped 13,210 (-9.2%).

The Edmonton City Centre Airport closed on November 30, 2013 and the Prince Rupert Airport, while still open, lost its status as a flight service station effective July 24, 2014. These two airports accounted for a total of 4,516 movements in October 2013.
