Highlights

April 2006

  • In April 2006, total production of primary steel and pig iron fell 1.9% to 1,349,637 metric tonnes.
  • Total monthly disposition of rolled steel products decreased 16.1% to 1,204,648, metric tonnes in April 2006. However, monthly disposition of these products was up 2.5% compared to April 2005.
  • In April 2006, total production of steel pipe and tubing declined 9.1% to 260,473 metric tonnes led by a reduction in the production of oil country tubular goods and mechanical tubing.
  • For the reference month, total shipments of steel wire and specified wire products dipped 16.7% to 46,511 metric tonnes.
