Sub-annual Distributions of Household Economic Accounts

The DHEA are also produced with a sub-annual frequency beginning with the first quarter of 2020. The sub-annual estimates were developed to allow for analysis of the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on household economic well-being and financial stability.Sub-annual DHEA estimates will continue to be produced to shed light on how different households fare during the economy recovery.
The sub-annual distributions rely mostly on the same concepts and methods as the annual DHEA. However, in order to produce the DHEA on a sub-annual basis new data sources were used and assumptions were made. The following sections provide an overview of the sources and estimation assumptions for household disposable income, household final consumption expenditure, and social transfers in kind. Over time, as household level data sources become available, the assumptions used to estimate the sub-annual DHEA estimates will be reviewed and refined.
