- In 2021, there were about 18.4 million women and girlsNote in private households in Canada, accounting for 50.6% of the population in private households. Of them, 26.8% were racialized,Note 23.8% were immigrants,Note and 5.1% were Indigenous.Note Note Note
- Although women are less likely to be employed than men, this gap has narrowed over the past decades. About four in five (81.4%) women aged 25 to 54 years were employed in CanadaNote in 2022, the majority (84.1%) of whom were employed on a full-time basis. In comparison, less than half (48.7%) of women were employed in 1976, 77.6% of whom worked full time.Note

- Immigrant women (76.2%), particularly those who landed in the last five years (69.6%), were less likely to be employed in 2022 than women born in Canada (84.4%), as were Indigenous women (75.1%), compared with non-Indigenous women (81.5%).Note Note Among racialized women, Filipino women (85.9%) were most likely to be employed, whereas Arab women (64.2%) were least likely.Note
