• In Canada, retail trade volume increased 4.6% in 2010 after falling 1.2% in 2009. In the United States, volume increased 5.3% in 2010 after falling 6.9% in 2009. In Ireland, volume recovered 1.0% after falling 14.2% in 2009.
• In Canada, the value added per person employed in retail and wholesale trade increased 0.9% from 2000 to 2005, compared with a 5.1% increase from 1995 to 2000. In the United States, the value added per person rose 2.0% from 2000 to 2005.
