This figure displays census subdivisions (CSDs) in the region known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe in Ontario, as well as the boundaries for the Toronto census metropolitan area (CMA) and an area identified as the Greenbelt in Ontario.

This map highlights CSDs within the Greater Golden Horseshoe that have experienced a net loss in the number of residential vacant land properties from 2019 to 2021. CSDs that are colourless have experienced no change or a positive growth rate in the number of residential vacant land properties. CSDs that are shaded from light blue to dark purple are based on the rate of loss in residential vacant land from 2019 to 2021. The darker the shade, the higher the rate of residential vacant land change or loss.

Additional details shown on the map are (1) the CMA, shown in a bolded outline; (2) the Greater Golden Horseshoe, shown as a dotted line; (3) rivers and lakes, shown in pale grey; and (4) the area known as the Greenbelt, shown in light green.

The negative rates of change are classified using a manual interval method, which results in the following groups seen on the map.

Category 2 is shown as purple and represents rates from -44.9% to -35.0%. There are 2 CSDs in this category.

Category 3 is shown as light purple and represents rates from -34.9% to -25.0%. There are 9 CSDs in this category.

Category 4 is shown as blue and represents rates from -24.9% to -15.0%. There are 9 CSDs in this category.

Category 5 is shown as medium blue and represents rates from -14.9% to -5.0%. There are 22 CSDs in this category.

Category 6 is shown as light blue and represents rates from -4.9% to -0.4%. There are 18 CSDs in this category.

Category 7 is shown as dark grey and is used for all CSDs where data are not available. There are 8 CSDs in this category.
