The type of farm classification used for the Census of Agriculture is based on groups (four-digit codes) and Canadian categories (6-digit codes) of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), which is revised periodically. Data on the type of farm on the Census of Agriculture of 2011 were calculated according to the 2007 NAICS.
