Just the Facts
Characteristics related to the age structure of the Canadian labour force in 2017 and 2036

Release date: September 10, 2018
Reference scenario

These tables show the modeled (2017) and projected (2036) distribution of the population aged 15 years and over by age group and labour force status as well as participation rates by age group according to the reference scenario. The reference scenario assumes a medium growth of the population and a future evolution of participation rates which follows the trend observed from 1995 to 2017 for the period going from 2017 to 2036.

Constant rates scenario

These tables show the modeled (2017) and projected (2036) distribution of the population aged 15 years and over by age group and labour force status as well as participation rates by age group according to the constant rates scenario. The constant rates scenario assumes a medium growth of the population and a maintenance of participation rates at the observed level in 2017 for the period going from 2017 to 2036.

High-growth scenario

These tables show the modeled (2017) and projected (2036) distribution of the population aged 15 years and over by age group and labour force status as well as participation rates by age group according to the high-growth scenario. The high-growth scenario assumes a high growth of the population and a future evolution of participation rates which follows the trend observed from 1995 to 2017 for the period going from 2017 to 2036.
