Scope
The CTEA include the same industries and products as the Canadian SUTs at the detail level, and they add four new OATS industries and four new OATS products. Estimates are calculated at the national level only.
The CTEA measure OATS activities that fall only under the four primary modes of transportation: air, rail, water and truck (North American Industry Classification System [NAICS] codes 481 to 484). Non-transportation industries are assumed not to undertake OATS activities that could be assigned to other modes of transportation such as pipeline transportation of natural gas, urban transit systems, taxi and limousine service, postal service, and couriers and messengers.
The CTEA do not measure own-account transportation by the household sector. That is, the CTEA do not cover transportation activities carried out by households for their own use and with private motor vehicles.
