Firearm-specific offences in which police reported a weapon other than a firearm are included in the "firearm type unknown" category. Percent changes are based on unrounded rates. Rates are calculated on the basis of 100,000 population. Populations are based upon July 1 estimates from Statistics Canada, Centre for Demography.
