Note: For the purposes of analysis, includes incidents with a single victim and a single accused. Excludes victims and accused where gender was coded as unknown. The option for police to code victims as “gender diverse” in the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Survey was implemented in 2018. In the context of the UCR Survey, “gender diverse” refers to a person who publicly expresses as neither exclusively male nor exclusively female. Given that small counts of victims identified as being gender diverse may exist, the UCR data available to the public has been recoded with these victims distributed in the “male” or “female” categories based on the regional distribution of victims’ gender. For incident location, time, presence of weapon and injury sustained, percent calculations exclude unknown values.
