Return to note 6 referrer Note 7 British Columbia youth custody counts, beginning in 2017/2018, as well as youth community counts, beginning in 2018/2019, were compiled from a new source, the Canadian Correctional Services Survey. Some changes from previous years may be due to this transition and the methodological differences between sources. For youth community counts specifically, counts are now based on effective and expiry dates of community orders, whereas previously, counts were based on actual supervision of youth in a probation office, and would exclude cases where the file was transferred from youth justice to an adult probation office.
